Shopify CLI Plugged a Store-Delete Regression
Shopify's CLI shipped a store-delete command without a confirmation gate, risking accidental data loss. The fix now requires an explicit --force flag or an interactive confirmation prompt. Theme commands also got stricter auth handling: expired store sessions are now skipped instead of silently reused, and session reuse is opt-in per command. The regression was caught in the wild before causing real damage, but it's a good reminder to always gate destructive operations behind a confirmation step.

POS UI Extensions Can Now Print Directly to Hardware Receipt Printers
Shopify released the Printing API (shopify.printing) for POS UI Extensions in the 2026-07 release. Extensions can now discover connected hardware printers with getPrinters() and send receipts with print(). This supersedes the older shopify.print API. For POS app developers building in-store experiences, this unlocks native receipt printing without workarounds -- a common gap in POS extension workflows.
